Protection environmental and energy conservation are current trends among young people

Our living environment is increasingly polluted and degraded due to unsustainable human development. This not only impacts health and quality of life but also threatens the survival of many species and ecosystems. In response to this situation, Vietnamese youth are taking positive actions with high awareness to protect the environment and save energy. This is a beautiful trend with widespread influence that deserves encouragement.

What is environmental protection and energy saving?

Environmental protection involves safeguarding and improving the living environment to ensure sustainable development harmonized with nature. Environmental protection is closely associated with various activities such as:

  • Preventing and reducing air, water, soil, noise pollution, waste, etc.
  • Conserving and restoring natural resources such as water, soil, forests, biodiversity, etc.
  • Implementing measures to cope with and mitigate the impacts of climate change, such as adaptation, mitigation, restoration, etc.
  • Enhancing awareness and responsibility of individuals, organizations, and communities in environmental protection.

Energy saving is the efficient and rational use of energy to minimize costs, optimize efficiency, and limit environmental impacts. Energy saving includes activities such as:

  • Using energy-efficient devices, technologies, and materials like LED bulbs, inverter air conditioners, insulation materials, etc.
  • Changing habits and energy consumption behaviors, such as turning off lights, fans, phones when not in use, washing clothes with cold water, using bicycles, buses instead of motorcycles, cars, etc.
  • Encouraging the use of renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind, biomass, etc.

Environmental protection and energy saving are trends among youth because:

  • Youth are directly affected by the current and future living environment and energy issues. Therefore, they have responsibilities and rights in protecting and improving the living environment for themselves, their families, and society.
  • Moreover, young people are often creative, dynamic, flexible, and capable of adapting to changes in their time. They can access and apply the latest knowledge, technologies, and solutions in environmental protection and energy saving.
  • To achieve this, today’s youth have a far-sighted vision and high awareness of their role and responsibilities in the sustainable development of their country and the world. They can spread positive impacts to those around them, especially future generations

To protect the environment and save energy, we can collectively implement the following measures:

  • Use environmentally friendly products such as cloth bags, bamboo straws, reusable water bottles, etc., and reduce the use of single-use plastic products like nylon bags, plastic straws, plastic cups, etc.
  • Participate in environmental protection activities such as clean-up challenges, tree planting, environmental advocacy, etc.
  • Use energy-saving devices like LED bulbs, inverter air conditioners, etc., and promptly maintain and repair them in case of malfunctions.
  • Change habits and energy consumption behaviors, such as turning off lights, fans, phones when not in use, washing clothes with cold water, using bicycles, buses instead of motorcycles, cars, etc.
  • Encourage the use of renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind, biomass, etc.

Environmental protection and energy saving are beautiful and meaningful trends among Vietnamese youth. By taking small but meaningful actions, we not only contribute to protecting and improving the living environment for ourselves, our families, and society but also save costs, enhance efficiency, and foster creativity in learning and life for young people. Let’s together implement these small yet impactful actions to build a green and sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.
